Ruth G Hatch


Ruth G. Hatch was born in a town in Southern Maine to Blanche G. and Winfred T. Hilton, the youngest of nine children. She attended public schools there until she was seventeen when she quit school to marry William R. Hatch. She went to night school and got her GED. By the time she was twenty-one, she had three children, Susan Charity, and David. As her oldest, Sue graduated from high school, she started to attend York County Community College. After all her children graduated from high school she and her husband decided to move to Florida. She continued her schooling through Daytona Beach Community College {West Campus in Deland, Fl.} and then later Nova Southeastern University, Orlando Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in secondary education with a specialty in Varying Exceptionalities. At the same time, she was working full-time in a facility for severe and profoundly handicapped people, in the Education Training Department of the facility.

After she graduated, Mrs Hatch got a teaching position at Deland Middle School, Deland, Fl. in a Varying Exceptionalities Class in Special Education where she taught until retiring. Her husband William passed away in 2012 from a brain tumor. Four years later she married Ralph T. Mead and is currently living in Zephyrhills, Florida.
